Low self esteem can affect your life in negative ways, making it hard to get out of bed in the morning and accomplish tasks that you could easily excel at.  Luckily, there are ways to improve your self-confidence and become more of your true self.  The following are a few tips about steps you can take to make you feel better about yourself as quickly as possible:
First, do something that you know you’re good at.  Have you been commended for your strong swimming skills?  Or maybe you’re a really good cook or gardener.  Either way, you should make it a daily habit to do something you enjoy that makes you feel accomplished.  Doing something you’re good at will help you feel more confident and will get you focused for all the tasks you have set for the day.  Don’t be afraid to boast about it either, if whatever you’re doing makes you feel good and gets that serotonin pumping, don’t stop!
Another good piece of advice to kick away low self-esteem would be to think back to when you did something for your first time.  The ability to look back at when you were in the position of learning something unfamiliar will open your mind to those feelings of nervousness and disbelief in your own self, pair that with high levels of stress and you’ve got the recipe for things associated with the learning process.  The next time you feel low self-confidence, think back at these times and know that you’re just learning something and that these feelings are completely normal.
Third, try to set a goal at least once a month that accomplishes something you’ve been putting up.  This could include multiple categories like calling an old friend or cleaning up your bedroom; maybe you’ve been wanting to reorganize your living room and haven’t gotten around to.  Whatever the task may be, set your mind to it and just do it.  This will help you form habits of following through after making a decision, something that is sure to boost your self-esteem.
Lastly, relax.  If you’re feeling a wave of anxiety that’s about to hit or you’re depressed one morning, the first thing you need to do is take a deep breath.  Some people like to form habits to alleviate stress like exercise routines or some other way to keep their minds occupied.  But taking a deep breath and practicing just a little bit of meditation each day is incredibly useful and will keep your mind on track to thinking positive thoughts about your true self.  If you’re having a particularly stressful day, take a bubble bath and play some soothing tunes, there’s really no better way to relax.
Remember, thinking positively about yourself is the only way to beat low self-esteem.  So get those nasty thoughts out of your head and take action towards becoming a better you.
